One of my summer jobs this year involves me writing for a little website called Planetxbox360.com. While I'm not too keen on being associated with console biased websites, I couldn't help jumping at this job opportunity because a) I needed the job and b) I like writing about video games. So, if you want some of my insight into my E3 predictions (Microsoft only, mind you), my speculation surrounding Halo: Reach rumors, or something that I have yet to write, feel free to check the site out and let me know what you think.

That's very interesting. It reminds me of when Chris Grant and Erik and maybe some other people had an opportunity to write for a website, CGNO. It's always good to write about what you like, and get paid to do so.

You guys have tequila ads all over the place.  I like that.

I can't say I'd visit the site much otherwise but it's always nice to see people who know how to put words together writing about videogames in some official capacity.  Did they try to send anyone to E3??  That's how I got to go!  By writing for a no-name site!  You should offer to cover it for 'em next year.  All you need to get a media badge is a url of one published article and (I believe) your boss to provide a company certificate.  You could probably get in on Cav Daily credentials alone.

Actually, more people on these forums might qualify than realize.  Bobby and J, I bet your podcast and Game Culture Journal more than fit the bill.  I don't remember exactly everything you need, but it sure wasn't much.  You need business cards, but anyone can print those up in one afternoon.  And you can call yourself whatever you want!

The thing is, E3 is on a much smaller scale now than back in 2005. Are all those qualifications sufficient for the revamped E3?

Yea, I'm not trying to turn people away from their usual sources of video game coverage, especially since I am employed as an editorialist (meaning I write whatever the hell I think about video games rather than providing necessarily informative content). But, I figured I'd let the forums know that I will be appearing on that site, just in case anyone cares about what I have to say. With any luck, I will be able to keep this job for a while or perhaps rise up in the ranks (my Halo article is already featured front and center on the homepage), and if that's the case, I will probably take a shot at E3, Erik. I had no idea it was so easy to get in! Thanks for the tip.

Anywho, here's my latest 'article.' It's just for the Arts and Entertainment blog for The Cavalier Daily, and it's more of an info dump regarding DJ Hero than anything else. But, I think that game looks pretty cool, so I want people to know stuff about it.

Next up is probably going to be another entry in my newly penned "Rumor Roundup" series over on planetxbox360.com. I think I'm going to take a look at the newly announced Metal Gear game. Also, since my editor asked me to turn these speculation investigations into a regular thing, I would very much appreciate any and all suggestions for other games to examine.

Oh oh oh, I dunno how deep you wanna dig, but you could do Thief 4.  The good fanatics at Through the Looking Glass have already pulled every tidbit they can out of what's been released so far and then some.  All while carefully avoiding calling it "THI4F".

Deus Ex 3 is also a big title that we still know almost nothing about.

My first name is George, and my editor refuses to acknowledge that I go by Campbell.

I just wrote something about free games on the Cavalier Daily's Arts & Entertainment blog. Check it: http://cd-tableau.blogspot.com/2009/07/protoculture-gaming-for-free.html

Updated my free games article: http://tinyurl.com/lqp8yg

Short version: you can now play Street Fighter II CE on Kongregate and MechWarrior 4 is going to be released for free sometime in the near future.

I decided to weigh-in on the running trend to label video games racist with this little number: http://cd-tableau.blogspot.com/2009/07/protoculture-left-4-dead-2-racist.html

Personally, I think both the writers I comment on went waay over the line with what they wrote. Feel free to leave a comment if you have an opinion on your own.

Nice.  Commented.  I'm as repulsed as the next person at all the hot air blowing about in recent racism in games debates, but I also think that ignoring it or laughing it away is the wrong answer.  Glad to see that some cooler heads are also weighing in.

Hmmm... I don't see your comment, but perhaps that is because the admin (AKA Editor-in-Chief of the Cav Daily) needs to approve it or something. EDIT: OOHHH, there it is! Nevermind...

Anyway, here's an article I wrote a couple months ago, but it just now is getting posted: http://tinyurl.com/me8qob

It's about what I would like to see in the next Xbox 360 Dashboard update. Enjoy!

Rock Band Network seems pretty cool. For more about it: http://cd-tableau.blogspot.com/2009/07/protoculture-rock-band-network-promises.html

Next up: I'm thinking a feature about the kinds of uses for Natal that I would actually enjoy.

Here's what I think Natal should have if it wants to be as successful as Microsoft says it will be: http://www.planetxbox360.com/article_7178/5_Things_Project_Natal_Needs_to_Be_Successful
