So...now that we're all trying to recover from the Spring Festival...what did we all think of it?

I thought it was good, especially since all TVs were being used at all times, which didn't happen during the last festival. However, the room was extremely crowded during the SSBM tournament, and then the crowd thinned out quickly after that. Oh well.

Overall pretty good...

Sad I missed out on most of it.  That was definitely not good.

Anyways, I did have quite a bit of fun when I finally got there.  I felt like there was actual a decent number of people left considering how close it was to the end of the festival.  I remember that there was barely anyone left at the end of the first one, although it was a little better at the fall festival.

I thought the festival went off pretty well:

*despite the rain, we had a good turnout [counted 73 at one point]

**All the TVs were always going, with very little downtown eXcept for system changes and the like

***People were generally having a great time playing and meetin new people

****The tournaments ran pretty well.  Each maXed out with participants and besides the little noise overlap we had at the beginning of the GHII, each ran smoothly and usually w/in its alotted time limit.

*****I thought we had a good atmosphere, fun vibe and I had several compliments on the event itself.

Last, but certainly not least, I had people inquire about the club and what we do.  I've added a couple to the mailing list and hopefully we might have some people come out on a more regular basis.

THANX to everyone who let us borrow stuff, helped set up/take down and organized tournaments.  We couldn't have done it without you

I thought the turnout was excellent. I ran into a few people that asked me about my OCR shirt, I almost won the wiisports match but matt p creamed me at bowling (unless you count the boxing match at the end which I won), and other than that I had a lot of fun just helping people play games. I really need to set up a machine with MAME on it or something, or bring an arcade machine to gamers festival one of these days.

Brendan: A 4p cab with Turtles in Time would be ridiculousness. xD

I definitely agree that we had a great turnout. People were willing to brave the elements to get some gaming on. xD I think the coolest part was getting people interested in games that we love but aren't exactly the most mainstream titles, like Naruto, Bleach DS 2, and Pac-Man VS.

I also told a couple of people about what we do at meetings and when/where we have them, so hopefully we'll see attendance boosted. I think I directed like 5 people to Stephen, because they kept asking to meet the man in charge. =P

Only thing I think we need to change is sound management (esp. for rhythm games, and maybe mic/speakers or speakerphone for announcements?) and maybe hyping up the finals of each tourney more. I planned to record all of the finals, but I usually didn't know they were going on until the middle or when final results were yelled out. =/

Overall, I had a great time. Too much fun playing SC3 again... Good thing I play the easiest character in the game, because it's been such a long time, haha.

I realized after the Wii Sports tournament ended that I forgot to announce who won (one of my hallmates was there so I was talking to him a lot). So I guess I'll do it here - the number in parenthesis is the bowling score which determined the final rankings:

1st - Matt P (268)
2nd - Brendan (204)
3rd - Stephen (202)
4th - Snooze (152)

This wasn't really hyped though, not only because I forgot to announce it afterwards, but also because this ended up getting split into two separate rounds.

I think the turnout was much better than last semester. We managed to attact some out-of-state visitors too so that's something (although I'm not sure if that's already been done).

I finally decided to buy Pac-Man VS off of Amazon that night too. It's so addicting and the hallmate of mine that was there thought it looked pretty fun so maybe there will be some intense matches in my hall when it arrives (even though there's only two months left).

I'd pretty much call it a huge success.  I can't think of anything to change that wasn't already mentioned.  It was exhausting being there the whole time, but I could've left any time I wanted... and didn't.

I would propose we institute some kind of house rule on Pac-man fruit grabbing however.  This will save cleaning time by resulting in fewer bloodstains on the carpet and also reduce the amount of apology letters I will have to send out to parents of deceased attendees.

You could not be more right. Fruit camping is not cool people.

Really, really, really wish I could have been there, but it's phenominal to hear you guys had the biggest festival ever. Kudos to all Gamers and spreading the word on-grounds about the glory of the club!

Heh, I have to say I was actually rather amused at that situation.  I've nver seen a ghost quit the game because everyone else was fruit camping.  Although I guess usually it's only one ghost camping, and mainly happening after Pac-man ate a power pellet.

Yes.  I actually set my controller on the floor, threw my hands in the air, and walked out of the game IN ANGER!  I have never ever thrown a controller before for any reason, but this situation, in public, was the closest I've ever come to it and at other human beings for that matter!  My hair burst in flame!  I was about to go Carrie!

A strange (supernatural?) urge just made me go wikipedia it out of curiosity, and this is what I found...
